Cooperation between Max Planck Institutes
and Universities:
International Max Planck Research Schools
Together with their partner universities, Max Planck Institutes have
started setting up the first nine International
Max Planck Research Schools. By doing so, the Max Planck Society
and the universities intend to strengthen their efforts to attract and
train urgently needed junior scientists. The Ph.D. courses to be offered
are designed for highly qualified young scientists not only from Germany
but especially from abroad. For this reason, at least half of the fellowships
available are to be allocated to foreign applicants and the programmes
will be run largely in English. The Ph.D.s are granted by the participating
universities. In the years to come, further International
Max Planck Research Schools will be founded.
