Sol-Gel Society
It had been proposed at the 2001 Padova Workshop that the establishment of an "International Society for Sol-Gel Science and Technology" may be beneficial to the further advancement of Sol-Gel Science & Technology for industry and academia and minimize the present overlapping activities carried out by too many professional societies in which Sol-Gel Science and Technology play only a very minor role. Discussion on the establishment of a Sol-Gel Society has already been planned at the next Sol-Gel Workshop in Australia, August 24 through 29, 2003.
A few active sol-gel scientists however feel that this question is so important that we should at least conduct a survey NOW to take the pulse of the sol-gel community and thus provide a basis for discussion with the international advisory board and the broader sol-gel community. This will undoubtedly be of value to all of us involved with Sol-Gel
activities.
