StockerYale acquires KLOE S.A.
May 25, 2001
KLOE S.A. a French start-up company was founded by Dr Paul Coudray and Dr Pascal
Etienne from the "Centre d'Electronique et de Micro-optoélectronique" and the
"Glass laboratory" of the University of Montpellier. The technology developed by
the two researchers is based on an hybrid (organic-inorganic) waveguide photoinscription
process similar to the one developed by Lumenon in Canada.
StockerYale, Inc is a leading independent provider of phase masks and manufacturer of
high-quality specialty fibers, illumination products, and optical networking components.
Officials said that this acquisition will allow the company to design and fabricate
optical devices and planar optical circuits using a sol-gel technology wich
is
inherently more efficient and cost effective than present CVD technologies.
