Objective
  • Production of antireflective coatings through the sol gel process for organic and inorganic substrates

Method

  • By sol gel process coatings with high content of metall oxides are wet chemicaly prepared
  • Essential part of the coating material are oxide nanoparticles (SiO2, TiO2) modified with polymerizable silanes
  • Application of the coatings by dip- and spin-coating and thermal curing (<100 °C) or UV-curing (2.1 J/cm2)
Results
  • l /4-TiO2-layer on polycarbonate with a refractive index of 1.92 (wavelength 550 nm)
  • l /4-SiO2-layer on polycarbonate with a refractive index of 1.47 (wavelength 550 nm)
  • variation of the refractive index of the layers (nD =  1.47 up to 1.92) by mixing the nanoparticles
  • l /4-double layer (TiO2-SiO2) on polycarbonate with reflexion of 0,6 % (wavelength 550 nm)

Applications

  • In the fields of eye glasses, displays, screens, semiconductor lasers, microlenses, solar cells, damage resistant laser surfaces, etc.
