Objective
  • Synthesis of thin, glasslike layers for staining glass surfaces by a wet coating process with intensive colors, also to be integrated into AR-coatings

Methods

  • wet coating of the glass surface with nanocomposite layers fabricated by sol-gel-process (spraying, dip-coating, spin-coating, printing) with following densification of the layer by 400 - 650 °C

Results

  • transparent, scratch-resistant, glass-like layers showing the colors red, blue, yellow, orange, brown, gray and green
  • Coating thickness: 150 nm - 2 µm

Applications
  • Architectural glazing, halogen lamps, flash lamps, automotive glazing, decorative glazing
  • interference coatings (reflection, AR) ranging from UV to IR

Advantage

  • intensively colored coatings with thicknesses of 150 nm - 2 µm
  • UV-, temperature-stable and weatherproof
  • also to be used as an antiglare coating through incorporation of a tailored surface roughness
