Objective
  • protective coatings for UV-endangered surfaces (especially outdoor applications)

Method

  • preparation of sol-gel derived inorganic-organic nanocomposite materials
  • usage of UV-stable sol-gel-materials
  • permanent incorporation of organic and/or inorganic UV-absorbents

Results
  • optical transparency
  • high scratch and abrasion resistance
  • good adhesion on glass and plastics after suitable pretreatment
  • UV-protection (> 2000 h Xenon-WOM)
  • application with common wet-coating techniques; afterwards thermal curing
  • abrasion resistance and permanent UV-protection

Applications

  • branches: automotive, facades, installations
