Objective
  • usage of water as solvent for inorganic-organic nanocomposite materials

Methods

  • preparation of sol-gel derived inorganic-organic nanocomposite coating materials
  • removal of organic solvents
  • generation of water-compatibility
  • application with common wet-coating techniques; afterwards thermal curing
  • incorporation of oxidic nanoparticles by surface modification

Results

  • coatings with high optical transparency
  • high scratch- and abrasion resistance
  •

  • good adhesion on glass and plastics after suitable pretreatment
  • functionalization possible (e. g. adaptation of refractive index, anti-fogging, corrosion protection, ...)

Applications

  • transparent scratch resistant coatings
  • functionalized coatings
  • extensive coatings with low emissions during application
  • branches: household, construction

Advantages

  • low environmental load
  • high safety at work
  • low costs for pollution abatement
