Objective
  • Fabrication of transparent IR-absorbing hardcoatings by wet coating techniques

Method

  • inorganic-organic nanocomposite coating materials prepared by the sol-gel-process
  • permanent IR-absorbence by incorporation of inorganic nanoparticles, which are not absorbing in the visible range

Results

  • high optical transparency
  • excellent scratch and abrasion resistance
  • good adhesion on glass and plastics after suitable pretreatment
  • permanent IR protection

Applications
  • transparent scratch resistant coatings in order to reduce the IR-permeability of construction elements
  • automotive, facades, construction

Advantages

  • reduced IR-transparency
  • protection against heating up by IR-radiation
  • opens up the possibility for new concepts like „intelligent" windows
