Objective
  • Synthesis of thin, glasslike layers for additional coloring of halide lamp-bulbs with intensive, durable and transparent coloring

Methods

  • Coating of the glass surface with nanocomposite layers by sol-gel process
  • wet coating techniques (dip-coating, spraying) with following densification of the layer at T(400 - 650 °C)

Results

  • Transparent, scratch-resistant, glass-like layers showing the colors red, blue, yellow, amber and green
  • coating thickness: 150 nm - 2 µm

Applications
  • High-temperature and UV-stable coloring of lamp-bulbs and optical filters

Advantage

  • Adjustable transmission and refractive index of the coatings
  • UV- and temperature-stable, weather proof
