Objective
  • Development of materials in form of redispersable nanoscaled powder, sols, coatings and bulk presenting high luminescent emission under UV excitation

Method

  • Synthesis of rare earth luminescent complexes (Eu3+, Tb3+, etc) presenting antenna effect
  • The complexes can be incorporated into organic modified sols or attached on redispersable crystalline nanopowders

Results

  • Luminescent sols with other functional properties and fully redispersable nanoscaled luminescent powders for the preparation of coatings and bulk material
  • Luminescent transparent coatings with thickness up to 3 µm deposited on various glasses, polycarbonate, paper or textiles
  •

  • The coatings may present other functional properties (hard, easy to clean, etc)

Excitation and emission spectra of an Eu3+ based coating deposited on polycarbonate substrate and photopolymerized at room temperature

Applications

  • Photoluminescent displays
  • Security documents: paper, plastic card, etc.
  • Luminescent textiles
  • Electroluminescence
