Objective
  • Fabrication of a deep-drawable coating material with „Easy-to-clean" properties

Methods

  • Permanent fluorine containing NANOMERÒ coatings with low surface free energy prepared by sol-gel route

Results

  • primerless adhesion onto the plastics (PMMA, PC)
  • Surface free energy comparable to fluorine polymers (18 - 20 mJ/m2)
  • Reduced wettability for oil, water, soap
  • Good chemical- and weathering resistance
  • Transparent coating
  • High scratch and abrasion resistance (pencil hardness: > 4H, Taber Abraser Test/1000 cycles: 10-15 % haze)

Applications
  • Sanitary equipment made from plastics (bath-tubs, hand-basins ...)

Benefits

  • Enhanced scratch resistance of coated plastics
  • Reduced adhesion of soil, grease, lime
    Þ minimization of cleaning efforts
  • Improved hygiene
  • Coating step can easily be integrated in deep-drawing production line
