Objective
  • Production of reflective single layer coatings via sol gel process on organic substrates (PC, PMMA,...)

Methods

  • By Sol Gel process coatings with high content of metal oxide are wet chemicaly prepared. Essential part of the coating material are titanium oxide nanoparticles modified with polymerizable silanes. The coating material is optimized to highest available refractive index
  • Application of the coating material by dipcoating and thermal curing at low temperatures (< 100 °C)

Results
  • l /4-TiO2-layer on PMMA or polycarbonate with a refractive index of 1.92 (550 nm)
  • improved chemical resistance against organic solvents
  • homogeneous large area coatings (up to 20 x 30 cm) available

Applications

  • In the fields of eye glasses, optical mirrors, security holograms
