I'm trying to prepare monoclinic celsian (BaAl2Si2O8) by sol-gel using Li2O or Na2O as dopants. Do you know how to avoid efflorescence phenomenon?

What you mean by efflorescence ? Li or Sodium carbonates crystals growth out of the gel ?

Sorry for the lack of details. I use LiNO3 and Na(CH3COO) as precursors of Li2O and Na2O, in solution Cl- is present. The gel is opaque and after drying some crystals seem to appear on surface of the dried gel. In case of lithium gel there are also orange spots

best regards
